About

About me
One of my earliest memories that involved a camera is of a school field trip when I was about 8 years old. I remember taking my Dad’s Brownie, happily snapping perfunctory pictures of my schoolmates. “Everybody line up in front of that broken down old boat!” I don’t know if those were my words, but the resulting picture looks like I said something of the sort. I remember attempting to compose landscapes, in my mind’s eye creating some sort of masterpiece like the magical scenery from books and magazines I read. What resulted was a collection of not-so-great pictures, a few good photos and the beginning of a love for photography and art. By high school I was experimenting with my Dad’s SLR, I finally got my own when I graduated and headed off to college where I majored in Fine Art and History.

My parents always took a lot of pictures; pictures on trips, pictures of events and, of course, all those family milestones. When I look at those old photos they take me back to the time and place they were taken, evoking memories and all the emotions that accompany them. That is what I hope to accomplish with my images. Whether landscapes, rural scenery, urban life or portraits, I want my photos to elicit emotion and conjure memories. If my photos take you to another place or a moment in time, I have accomplished that goal.

I have a variety of interests and enjoy photographing any and everything. No matter the subject, the challenge is welcome. There is always a story to tell, the process always a learning experience.
